Place ANKAme Permanent anchor point into position as per (owner’s manual installation instructions) and in desired location, follow manufactures user manual for correct installation, selection, use and maintenance as per AS/NZS

 

HEIGHT SAFETY ROOF ANCHOR, SELECTION, USE, MAINTENANCE & INSPECTION

It is a requirement that the roof anchor be inspected prior to each use, if any of the following are evident, the roof anchor must be removed from service immediately: Any defects, absent markings/ labelling, evidence of missing parts, or if the roof anchor has been used in a fall. Roof anchor not to be used in a corrosive environment. Permanent anchor to be used in the direction of eyebolt only. Roof anchor to be used only where roof sheeting has been fully installed in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. Roof sheeting profile can vary up to 5mm, inspect roof sheeting prior to installation of roof anchor. Roof anchor to be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth. Re-Inspection of Permanent roof anchor systems are to be every 12 months as per AS/NZS

A person who has, through a combination of training, education and experience, acquired knowledge and skills enabling that person to correctly perform a specified task

 

When do I need to use a permanent or temporary static line roof safety system 

• The Work at Height Regulations 2005 state that whenever there is the potential for a person to fall while working and this leads to injury, then the worker must have some form of protection. What type of protection depends on a risk assessment being carried out and a method of protection selected from the hierarchy of control.

Why are temporary static lines required and used 

• A roof anchor static line is used as a safety device to protect a worker from falling at heights.

What is a temporary static line roof safety system 

• A static line system is a devise fastened to the top of a metal roof where a worker will then attach their harness rope to the 7.5-meter-long static line system to secure themselves with a safety harness. the Static line system must be compliant to AS/NZS 1891.2 Suppliment1:2001 part 2 and the end roof anchors must be complaint to AS/NZS 1891.4:2009, as per the falls code of practice and WHS requirements.

• Temporary static line installation must be installed as per the Australian standards ( a competent person can install and use a roof anchor point and static line system, as per the manufactures installation instructions and user manual ).

How to test a roof anchor point 

• A roof anchor point can be tested as per AS/NZS 1891.4:2009 ( table 3.1 ), load tested to 15Kn of load, that's approximately 1.5 tonners of load, in the direction of a potential fall. 

What is the minimum strength of a roof anchor point 

• The minimum strength for a roof anchor point for 1 person is 15Kn ( 1 person per roof anchor per system ) as per As/NZS 1891.4:2009.

How do you use a permanent or temporary static line system 

• You need to deem yourself competent and refer to the manufacture's installation instructions user manual, if in doubt you need to consult and engineer or contact the manufacture.

How often do roof anchor temporary static lines need to be inspected 

• As per the AS/NZS roof anchor systems need to be visually inspected prior to each use, and for permanent roof anchors systems an annual inspection is required every 12 months from the date of installation.

• Every day you turn up to a roof where roof anchor points are already installed or needs to be installed you must check they are fully compliant to AS/NZS 18914:2009, you must also refer to the owner's manual for correct installation and use, if in doubt ask the manufacture or contact a structural engineer.
