ANKAme roof anchors are Designed by Australians for Australian Standards and Conditions. ANKAme Roof Anchors was formed in 2010, we delivered one of the very first fully compliant roof anchor solutions to the Australian marketplace. The products have been specifically designed to cater to the needs of the roofing industry as well as related industries that work at heights.

ANKAme roof anchors have been independently tested by a NATA Accredited company specifically for testing roof anchor points to AS/NSZ 1891.4:2009 proudly tested by Test Safe a division of SafeWork NSW. Click here to download the Test Report (PDF).

Testing of Roof Anchor Points and Compliance

  • Correct testing of roof anchor points need to have “proof loading to 15kn” (as per AS/NZS 1891.4:2009 Clause 3.1, Table 3.1 (a) free fall arrest, Single Point Anchorage For One Person), as per AS/NZS 1891.4:2009

  • When testing the roof anchors the test-bed must replicate that of a common roof structure, including the grade of timber or steel materials used to create the structure, as per AS/NZS 1891.4:2009

  • When testing the roof anchor you must carry out the testing “ in the direction of the eye bolt”

  • The fastenings used must meet the testing and load requirements

  • When testing roof anchors the roof sheeting must be of the minimum thickness grade available 0.42BMT

  • Selection use and maintenance are to be written on each roof anchor point

  • Batch numbering and serial numbering are to be written on each roof anchor point for product traceability and authenticity

  • Installation instructions are to be written on each roof anchor point

  • Installation instructions are to be sent out with each roof anchor point sold

  • When testing the roof anchors it “should” be tested by an independent testing authority that is NATA accredited, so your confident that the product has in fact been tested correctly, also be aware of Manufactures that carry out “in house testing”

  • Recently there has been a lot of false and misleading information thrown around both online and with-in the marketplace in relation to AS/NZS 5532: 2013, you will now find that most of the people whom were providing this false and misleading information have withdrawn their statements and comments

  • The ANKAme roof anchors are compliant with AS/NSZ 1891.4:2009 standard for testing roof anchor points “proof loading to 15kn” ( as per AS/NZS 1891.4: 2009 Clause 3.1, Table 3.1 (a) free fall arrest, Single Point Anchorage For One Person )

  • AS/NZS 5532:2013 is a “manufacturer standard” for roof anchor points and is now currently under review by both Standards Australia and Work Cover NSW, there is going to be a forum held mid-February 2015 with a hand full of industry experts to discuss the major flaws and conflicts that currently exist in this particular standard. ANKAme Pty Ltd has been invited by Standards Australia to attend the forum in mid-February 2015 and will provide further clarification in due time in relation to AS/NZS 5532:2013, ANKAme currently complies with parts of AS/NZS 5532:2013

  • AS/NZS 5532:2013 is not a compulsory or mandatory standard and is currently in review

ANKAme roof anchor point compliance

  • It is a must when installing Permanent roof anchors that you provide your client with a hand over certificate and the roof anchors are to be re-certified by a competent person as a minimum every 12 months there after the installation date

  • It is a must when installing the Temporary roof anchors that they are installed by a competent installer, that has had experience in both working at heights and had sufficient training for working at heights

  • The ANKAme roof anchors are independently tested by TEST SAFE AUSTRALIA, whom is a sister company of WORK COVER NSW and was tested and “proof loaded to 15kn” ( as per AS/NZS 1891.4: 2009 Clause 3.1, Table 3.1 (a) free fall arrest, Single Point Anchorage For One Person ) Click here to download the Certificate of Compliance (PDF).

ANKAme Static Line Use

  • The ANKAme roof anchors were reviewed by a licensed, qualified structural engineer whom then signed off the ANKAme roof anchors to AS/NZS 1891.2 supplement 1:2001 static line use making the product not only usable as a roof anchor static line system but compliant as well.

Non-Compliant roof anchor Products / Manufactures .... Be aware ....!!!

  • There are currently a lot of NON-COMPLIANT and inferior roof anchor products on the market that could have the potential of putting you and your staff at serious risk when working at heights, including death. Everybody “should” have the confidence that the roof anchor product that they use has been independently tested by a NATA accredited testing authority specifically for testing roof anchors and roof anchor points to the correct testing method and provide you, your staff and your clients with the confidence and support required.

  • You should ask the Manufactures/supplier for the testing reports for “proof loading to 15kn” ( as per AS/NZS 1891.4: 2009 Clause 3.1, Table 3.1 (a) free fall arrest, Single Point Anchorage For One Person )

  • You should ask your Manufacture/supplier for a certificate of compliance for “proof loading to 15kn” ( as per AS/NZS 1891.4: 2009 Clause 3.1, Table 3.1 (a) free fall arrest, Single Point Anchorage For One Person )

  • Your supplier should be able to provide you with a handover certificate for the installation of permanent fix roof anchors once installed ( each permanent roof anchor needs to be installed by a competent person ), as per AS/NZS 1891.4:2009

  • It is a must that the roof anchors used are a compliant product to the current standards and “should” be tested by an independent NATA accredited testing authority for testing Roof Anchors and their Points

  • Most manufacturers or roof anchors “only” carry out drop testing, which is a 100Kg weight dropped from a certain distance as the roof anchor MUST be tested by “proof loading to 15kn” ( as per AS/NZS 1891.4:2009 Clause 3.1, Table 3.1 (a) free fall arrest, Single Point Anchorage For One Person and tested in the direction of the eye bolt ) as per AS/NZS 1891.4:2009

  • You “should” ensure that you have the correct insurance cover through the Manufacture when using roof anchor points

  • Some roof anchors may only be used as “diversionary” anchors and CAN NOT be used as end anchors, ensure you use the correct roof anchor when connecting direct to an end roof anchor point ( Free Fall Arrest single point anchorage for one person, 15Kn 1 person per anchor )
