    How To work Safely At Heights

Protecting workers from working at height and falling from the edge of a roof is known in the roof safety industry as roof edge protection. There are a number of different height safety solutions that provide this service. Before deciding on which control to use, consider the likely momentum (force) generated by a falling person. Momentum depends on speed so you need to consider what will make person fall faster. 2024.

Risk assessment;

  1. The roof pitch: steeper pitch means a person will fall faster
  2. The rafter length: the further someone falls, the faster they fall
  3. The roof surface material: a slippery roof surface such as a glazed roof, will cause someone to fall faster

Whether you decide to use roof anchors, barriers or another edge protection method depends on the factors above.
