The risk assessment for working at heights should always be carried out by a qualified expert. The equipment used must be of the highest standard of design and manufacture, correctly installed and inspected. A few important points to remember:
- All roof anchor points must be engineer designed, and installed and inspected by a competent person.
- It must be possible to attach the lanyard to an anchorage point without putting the user at risk of a fall.
- A competent person must make certain a person won’t hit the ground or another object if they do fall.
